How to Let Others Hear Real-Time Translations in WhatsApp by Changing Your Microphone Settings

1. Confirm a Virtual Audio Device is Installed on Your Computer

If you haven't installed it yet, Windows users can refer to "How to Install VB-CABLE: Common Installation Problems and Solutions."

macOS : Sharing the translated audio with the other party is currently unsupported on macOS. However, you can still translate what the other party is saying normally.

2.Switch the Microphone Device in WhatsApp

1) Open WhatsApp Desktop and start a call.

2) Click the Audio Settings icon in the bottom left corner.

3) Windows:Select the microphone to "CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) " (as shown in the example image). Once selected, the setup is complete! 🎉

3. Configure Your Audio Output in TransGull

Click the Settings icon in the top-right corner, then click "Translation Playback Settings" to configure the audio based on your preferences:

  • Send only the translated content to the other party

If your two-way simultaneous interpretation languages are set to "Japanese ↔️ English", turn on Japanese (as shown in the image). This will stream the Japanese translation of your English speech directly to the other person on WhatsApp.

  • Send both your original speech and the translated content to the other party

If your two-way simultaneous interpretation languages are set to "Japanese ↔️ English", enable both Your Original Speech and Japanese(as shown in the image). This will stream both your original voice and the Japanese translation to the other person on WhatsApp.
